CRICKET

AG A INST QUEENSLAND

ENGLAND’S EASY 'WIN.

BY INNINGS AND 17 RUNS

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).

BRISBANE, Nov. 27

The weather was overcast and mild for the resumption of the cricket match, .England versus Queensland, but the wicket was true and vastly improved. The attendance was three thousand.

The first ball to-day from Geary howled Howe. Chapman placed his field for the bowlers, not for the batsmen. For Geary he had lour slips 1 , one deep, and the remainder off and on the sides. The Queensland batting was over-cautious and uninteresting, fifty was reached in 80 minutes. Geary was suited by the bowling surface, from wdiicli the ball broke on both sides. Hcndren threw out Knowles cleverly, the batsman hesitating, and being unable to get back. Nothling tried daring strokes. The only bright interlude was one four stroke, which hit the stand fence behind which two ladies were sitting. Nothling ran out to White and hit the ball on the full. Hondi on gathering it in to the body. Freeman put a terrific spin on the ball, and Geary was bowling excellently. The English fielding was superb throughout. The visitors complain of autographhunters’ persistency. Their dressing room table hove was covered with albums. Every morning Chapman threatens to order rubber stamps, and states that his men are in perfect nick for the test He would not express definite opinion about the wicket, hut was convinced a good match would result.

After luncheon, the batting improved, Lister especially playing confidently. IT is fifty was made in 82 minutes, and included seven fours. O’Connor’s s'-orc took 13(1 minutes, and Lister’s 0-1 minutes. The mutch finished at 3.2(5. England winning by an innings and 17 runs.
