At a meeting of the Australian Newspaper Conference a resolution was passed that in view of the reductions in cable charges, which followed firstly on the inauguration of tbe Pacific cable and secoudlly upon the I tinet inning of the beam wireless, it is now urged that before Australia becomes a partner in the wireless merger, provision should be made, under which the people of tbe Commonwealth will be assured of (further reductions, which should become possible with the development of the beam system.
