GAMING HOUSE FINES.

AUCKLAND, November 26
Detectives on Saturday raided two offices in Palmerston Buildings, Queen Street. At the Police Court to-day, Joseph Spencer Greenwood, aged 69, and Henry Clifton Sal lory, aged 3b, pleaded guilty to keeping premises as a common gaming house. George Geelong Paul admitted assisting Greenwood in the management of the gaming house. Tho police stated Sallery was, fined £75 on a similar charge in December of last year. The Magistrate lined Sallery £l6O, Greenwood £SO, and Paul £25, while three men on the premises were each lined C2. BOY’S FATAL FALL.
CHRISTCHURCH. November 26
An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Cyril Campbell Armour, aged 13, whose body was iound dead at the loot of the cliffs at Sumner yesterday.
Tho evidence of the boy’s brother was that he sometimes took (foolhardy risks, and also" that since a recent operation lie was subject- to turns ol giddiness ; otherwise the boy was nor'ni a Baud' in very good health. The verdict of the Coroner was that thb boy’s death was caused bv a fall from tiie cliffs on to'tlic beach. The Coroner lidded: “It seems that in-a -spirit'--of adventure lie essayed a task in itself exceedingly dangerous, in climbing on the cliffs. Me can only surpiisc that be fell from the “lifts to the’ bench below; suffering from injuries from which be could not hope to five.”

While ploughing at Tiratu, George Strother, a farmer, had a leg factored and ribs broken, through a horse bolting.

DANNEVIBKE. Nov. 26. Miss Malm audio, aged SO, broke an ankle, through a fall at her home.
MAN KILLED by falling ROCK
AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. !A workman at the City Council dam at IT ilia, named John "Urquhart, aged 45. was killed by a falling rock this afternoon.
Urquhart was working in the quarry when a piece of rock fell, striking him oil tlic head. Tt is understood H’-t bis males caked to him to look : ’it be walked into j'be path of the rock. Death was almost instantaneous. Deceased leaves a wife and two children:

'While" coming to Dsimievirke from Weber Q» Monday, a car driven by Chris. A. Jensen, licensee of the Roynl Oak Hotel, Weber. when passing another car, = went over the bank, turning over several times heroic coming to rest the right side up on a clump of manuka. The driver remained in the car. and escaped with slight injury. His daughter. Mrs Bion twho was with him, was thrown out during the progress down the bank, and severely injured internally, and is now in hospital in a serious condition.
