With a total of 6,105,000 shares sold to-day the Stock Exchange completed an exhausting session, in which the

break brought heavy losses to most m" the big favourites. The tickers were far behind the market. As usual, in an effort to eliminate this difficulty, volumes of the sales will he omitted from the tape to-morrow. General Motors lost 3points; Montgomery Ward lost 12, and other issues experienced similar drops. The Radio Corporation closed with a gain of one point m the filial hour when terrific selling brought most prices down. The curb market broke all records for volume with 2,214,000 shares. The tape was half an hour late up to last night. The Stock Exchange sales have totalled 00,407/100 since the election. A sale of an exchange seat was arranged today at 525,000 dollars.

SHIP SUBSIDY WANTED

VANCOUVER, November 22

Replying to a request from a delegation of Britsh Columbian lumbermen tor subsidised steamship service to Australia, the Federal Minister of Trade and Commerce (Mr Malcolm) to-day declared the request conformed with the policy of the department and he promised favourable consideration within “the not distant future.” He declared the Government was unable to give a direct subsidy to any steamer (for nny special trade, although it could specify the type of vessel required for lumber and other commodities.
