The following resolutions were passed by tin- Law Society yesterday:— That this Council strongly approves and endorses the resolution passed by tin.- Council of the Wellington District Law Society on second November. 1923, “That in the emphatic opinion of the Council all appointments to tile Supreme Court Bench should in public interest he Idled irom the actively practising bar.” That this Council also endorses the letter of the President of the Wellington District Law Society addressed to the Attorney-Gem-ral on the second of November. 1928. on the same subject and protesting against the recent tempo; y appointment. CRIME IN MASTER TON. MASTER TON, Nov. 22. On Tuesday night a mysterious fire occurred in a big shed used for storing chaff, timber etc., and last night an r other outbreak occurred in an empty house near tlie locality of the former fire. Incendiarism is suspected. Last night’s outbreak resulted in the gutting ot two rooms. A mini 1)01’ of cases of breaking into houses at night and stealing money has occurred, and is causing uneasiness. NATIONAL PARK HOSTEL. WELLINGTON. November 22. Plans of the Tonga rim hostel, lodges, etc. having been approved by the ParkHoard, the Tongariro Park Tourist Co. lias let the contract to Fletcher Bros, for the erection of the work, commencing this week, the completion of which will he December of next year. The total cost, including hydro plant, will be about £68,500. Hall, of Tiniaru, is the architect.
