The Australian Stabilisation General Committee has decided that the levy be ppl a 11) on all butter manufactured and the bounty -Dpi a lb. on export butter for the year beginning January Ist. This decision was the result of a long discussion in which the Tasmanian representatives opposed any alteration in the present levy and bounty, while Queensland and New South AVales urged that it he increased to 2d and od. The financial statement showed a credit balance sufficient to meet the committee’s bounty obligations for the current year.

The tractor lately purchased by the County Council has been operating with a grader at Arahura and is now on the Upper Kokatahi road, which is to receive a thorough overhaul. The effect of the grading work i.s giving every satisfaction to the County officials. The work was inspected by Mr Wells, County Chairman, yesterday, and he expressed gratification at the results showing. AA’lien the Upper Kokatahi has had attention, the plant will be used on Kanieri Lake road which is to he put in order for the holiday traffic. _ The road roller will be operating m conjunction with the grading plant.
