ALPINE SOCIETY
(By Telegraph—Press Association).
WELLINGTON, Nov. 21
Extinguished at Nelson, the N.Z. Alpine and Rock Garden Society is being reformed in Wellington. The Society was dependent mainly on the entry of its founder, Mr A. Wilkinson,.who recently notified the Society at Nelson tnat he was unable to carry on the great mass of work into which the Society had grown, the result being that the Nelson body became entirely local. Wellington and Hutt Valley enthusiasts invited Mr Wilkinson, who was dissatisfied with Nelson’s decision, to take up the matter here, and for a week Mr Wilkinson has been doing spade work in the formation of the new Society. This was brought to fruition at Lower Hutt last night.
The patrons will be Sir Clias and Lady Ferguson. The President is Mr Hope Gibbons, of Wanganui. The Committee. with A. Nicholls as Secretary, goes into preliminaries and reports at the meeting on Dec. 12th.
