SYDNEY, Nov. 19
lfain caused twenty minutes’ delay in the resumption of the match between England and an Australian eleven to-day. Tate (10) and Geary (IS) resumed balling, with 019 on for eight wickets. The weather was bleak, with a strong southerly and light showers, which clicl not interrupt play.
Tate played with dash, his favourite shot being past point. He hit five fours, hatting SI minutes. Geary made a. (|iiiet 30. Tie was caught at second slip. Hooker’s howling was the best, his length being ex (•client. BoUington turned the halt well. Nothling, who did not howl today, was also splendid. The fielding was good.
In the Australian eleven’s second innings, Richardson was streaky, and gave chances to Geary and Mead in the slips before his dismissal. Larwood being the unlucky howler. Andrews, scoring ‘Jo, gave a good display. Harris, though getting rims, was not impressive. U tea. tin- score was two down for 105.
At the drawing of stumps the Australian eleven had scored : “ tor the loss of three wickets. Ifu.ris' hatted 139 minutes .for his 59 runs, hitting five fours. AUCKLAND, November 19. Mrs A. H. P. Chapman (formerly Miss Lowry ol ITawko’s Ray) arrived by the Aorangi to visit her parents atOkawa. When asked what England’s chances wore in the tests, she said: ‘‘l’m not allowed to tell.” Later, however, while puffing a cigarette, the English skipper’s wile gave an opinion straight out that England would win the rubber, afterwards adding, “ At least- I hope so, because I simply love England.”
She stated that there was no chance of her husband settling in New Zealand, and they were going hack Uthe Old Country when the cricket tour was over.
