Tbe Vestris inquiry, which was adjourned till 10.30 to-morrow morning, was marked by the emphatic manner of Federal Attorney Tuttle, who seemto indicate that an effort- was being made to control witnesses. He said: “ Advices have come to me from, confidential quarters, and 1 am sure the Court '/ill want to deal severely with anyone who undertakes to prevent tin; development ol the complete truth here, either by connection with particular witnesses, or by placing witnesses beyond the jurisdiction of the Court.” Lifeboat 13 was brought in by the Berlin, and all are available for examination by the Court. Mr Tuttle declared his willingness to adopt Sir Harry Armstrong s suggestions for apopintment of marine exports. Sir H. Armstrong proposed that the United States appoint one expert and the steamship company appoint one. Mr Tuttle, however, added that the British Government, instead of the steamship company, should designate an expert-. SALE OF LABRADOR. STATEMENT EFFUSED BY PRIME Af I NI STEP. ST. JOHNS.
