William Smiley, aged 2(>. was sentenced to live years penal servitilde foi causing bodily harm to two men. llie prisoner, who is a razor gangster, is described" ns n dangerous criminal. Tt also was stated the gang endeavoured to prevent: the principal Crown witness from appearing and threatened to blow up the house where he resided, necessitating police protection lor the house which has already been entered In- a party of intruders while the witness was away. After the preliminary court proceedings he has now removed with his family to an undisclosed address.
.Meanwhile the witness has had special plain-clothes protectors while proceed it ig to and from work.
