LATE LOCALS.

At the ■Magistrate's Court, Greymouth yesterday Joshua Carson, a. young man, aged 24 years, until recently a trucker at the Dobson Mine, was charged with indecently assaulting a young girl aged 7 years, at Greymouth, on 5 th. November. SeniorSergeant Roach conducted the case, and accused was not represented by counsel. Evidence given by tire child concerned, her father, 12 years old sister, and Constable Corcoran was heard. The constable produced a written statement signed by accused, in which Carson admitted interfering with the girl, but said he was sorry for it, and knew it was the wrong thing to do, but could not help it. The Senior-Sergeant stated that accused was at present serving a month’s sentence for another offence. Carson pleaded guilty, and was committed to the next sitting of the Supreme Court in Greymouth, next February. Bail was fixed at £IOO and two sureties of £SO eacn.
