FORCED TO HAVE A DRINK

THA AIKS. Nov. 9

The story of how ;i young North Irish immigrant had forced a bench lull of Mikutaia settlers to accompany him to an hotel and have a drink, at the point of a revolver, was unfolded in the Thames Court this morning when Andrew Hailey. 21 years, a Salvation Army immigrant was faced with seven charges in connection with the possession of an unregistered firearm and one of assault.

Alter hearing the police story that Bailey merely thought himself a youthful desperado when in drink, Air Platts S.M. convicted him on all charges and ordered him to come up for sentence in one year if called upon, and prohibited him.

SUDDEN DEATH. PALMERSTON X., Nov,

The death occurred to-night of a wellknown citizen, Wm. Alundy, aged 63 years. Deceased collapsed suddenly while singing in the choir, prior to the induction service in the Congregational Church.

AN INQUEST. WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. An inquest was held at Lower Hutt this morning before Air .T. H. Salmon S.AL, in to the death of George Ernest Oostigan, aged 5, who was killed on Sunday last by part of an ice chest falling on him. A heavy section of an ice chest, weighing nearly three hundred weight was lying against the wall. The child was swinging on a small door and a section of the he chest overbalanced. The verdict was accidental death through a fracture of the skull.
