INSTRUCTION RECEIVED FROM WELLINGTON.

Acting on instructions from the Registrar of tli-> University of New Zealand, history It. (b) papers, which had been wrongly issued to students last Thursday, were given out at the University degree examinations at Canterbury College yesterday morning. Candidates were given the papers at 9.30 and were permitted to work on them until 12.30 p.m. The following instruction was received from the Registrar ol the University (Mr E. T. Norris): —“Have considered the position of history IT with the executive chairman. You must go on with the issue of B papeis on Monday.”
Apparently Auckland was the only 'ejitre where candidates were allowed to 1 continue working on history 11. fh papers after the mistake had been noticed. Thus there were Tour days between the time that the papers were 'lone in Auckland and the examination oil this subject in other parts of New Zealand. A BUILDER SENTENCED. DANNEVIEKE, Now. 6. James Humphreys builder, who a week a-go assaulted a constable at the Police Station, whither lie had gone to complain that women and girls were following him about, appeared on remand on a charge of assault, having been under medical observation. He refused to plead and maintained a stony silence throughout the hearing. He was sentenced to a month’s imorisonment, having previously gone to the Napier Police Station in 1924, and threatened to clean up the station. He was then fined £3.
