BYRD ARRIVES

AYKLLTNOTON, November 5
The C. A. Larsen, with Commander Byrd and fifteen members of his polar expedition, arrived at daybreak this morning and hertlied at noon at Pipitoa wharf, after a voyage from San Pedro, Califioi nia. The programme stands unaltered from what already has been announced and Byrd had nothin'' to add to wliat lias appeared from time to time. The C. A. Larson carries four planes, one large one and three small. Byrd considers it probable that the altitudes estimated, by Amundsen and others are excessive and anticipates that probably the altitude required to cross the mountains will he 0500 ifect.
