Tributes to the founder of Wesleyan ism were paid by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prime Minister at a meeting held in London in support of an appeal for funds to renovate Wesley’s Chapel in the city.

The Archbishop (the Most Lev. 11. T. Davidson) observed that John 'Wesley did more than any other person to promote religion in life in England.

Mr Baldwin said that Wesley was a great Englishman and typical of n great century. If any one single person had stood between England and the monstrous upheavals on the Continent. it had been John Wesley. AA esley’s supreme legacy to this country was the Conception of a practical religion for the ordinary man and woman.

The famous Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava was re-enacted with every semblance of reality at Aldershot yesterday for a film production entitled ‘•Balaclava. ’• The light cavalry charge was made by 600 men in the uniforms of sev-enty-four years ago. representing the various regiments which actually took part in the engagement. Cameras were stationed at various points, and the roar of the enemy guns was picked up hv the sound-recording apparatus of the British Acoustic Company.
