OLD CONTEMPT IDLES HONORED

The Marine Memorial, to 3888 Old Contcmjitibles buried in unknown graves in 1.91 I. was unveiled at La Forte Sous Jouarre, by General Sir William Poulteiioy. who paid a tribute to Anglo-French valour- and strategy in checking the Gorman advance in probably the most critical period of the war ensuring the saletv of Paris. Me also paid a tribute to the historic engineering feat of the British Fourth Division in constructing, under intense lire, a Hunting bridge, enabling pursuit of the enemy, ami relieving of the pressure on the llauk oi the Sixth French Army, stating: ‘‘l here was no other place in the war where the mutual assistance of the Allies ol such paramount importance and success so linely exemplified.”
