Following heavy rain storms Mount Etna has become active from a crater of 0,500 'feet, made by the 1805 eruption.

A lava stream a mile wide is advancing on the village of Saint Allio, devastating forests on route. Ceutury-old trees are Haring up like matchwood. Isolated farms on the mountain side have been evacuated and the inhabitants of the threatened village are ready to llee at any moment.
