The death took place at Westland Hospital on Saturday evening of Dlrs Ann Nisson, a well known colonist of Westland, at the advanced age of 92 years. Born at Dublin, Ireland, deceased came to New Zealand in the early days and was married when at the Dunstau, Otago. She then came to Hokitika with her husband, and the}' were well known in the stirring days of the gold rushes here as the proprietors of the Half-way House at llau tlau. Later they settled in the Okuru district. After the death of • her husband many years ago Mrs Nisson came to Hokitika, residing in Stafford Street for many years, but of late had been living with her son at Matainui. Deceased leaves one son (Dir George Nisson, of Matainui) and two daughters (Mrs TT. Cuttance, of Southland, and Dlrs O’Tlallahan, ol Templeton, Canterbury). Dfany old friends will regret the passing of.a very popular figure, and will extend deep sympathy to the relatives. the funeral took place this alternoon to Hokitika cemetery, the Bev. Father O’Doherty conducting Dlass at St. Mary’s Church this morning and the service at the graveside.
