A number of lii.s personal and political friends are organising a tribute to Air T. P. O'Connor, tlie “Father” of the House of Commons, who recently celebrated his eightieth birthday. It is understood that the tribute will take tlie form of an annuity, to be paid to Mr O’Connor during his lifetime. .Mr O’Connor has represented the Liverpool division since 1885.

An appeal for information regardin', the destructive wind that s'vt-pi over central Loudon last Alouday evening resulted in 92 communications being received by tlie Meteorological Office, including 74 accompanied by bnrograrns. Experts have now been able to trace the track of the brief but violent storm, which had many of the characteristics of an American tornado.

Apart from the usual “ragging,” the chief interest in the Glasgow University rectorial election was the fact that the well-known author, Mr R. 13. Cunningham Graham, who stood as a Scottish Nationalist, polled within sixtysix votes of Air .Baldwin’s winning total.
