ATTACK ON ITALIANS
COMMENT ON PROTEST. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 10.30; a.m.) LONDON, October 30. “The price df such foolish language should be his immediate recall by his own,Government,” says the “Yorkshire Observer,” in a leader, pointing out, “ Carosi’s outburst in Melbourne implies that the Australian. Government is responsible for the outrage which is absurd. If its aliens are unpopular in Australia, it is because the Government has been too kind to them in the matter of legislation. Even if the police fail to trace the authors of the outrage it would not be any justification for Carosi’s wild whirling words. The root of the matter is not racial antipathy, but the standard df living.” The “ Star ” says: “We shall await with interest Australia’s reply to Cai'osi’s- outburst, which accords with the attitude of Mussolini himself, taken with some of his lesser neighbours, but’ Australia is a horse of another colour. What does his high, and mightiness, the Consul, propose to do? Supposing Mr Bruce does not satisfy him is the Duce to declare war on' Australia or does lie propose to tackle the whole Empire? ”
