IRELAND AND CANADA

VANCOUVER, Oct. 28
A message from Quebec states that Canada will not appoint a Minister to Ireland, and that Ireland will not appoint a Minister to Ottawa. The Premier. Air McKenzie King, made this clear on his arrival from Europe. It is probable that at some future time, representatives will he appointed, but these will not have the rank of Alinistcr.
THE LARGEST TELESCOPE. VANCOUVER, Oct. 29
Pasadana reports • that the largest telescope in the world, five times the power of the present largest is planned and will he erected in California mountain. It will have a reflection of two hundred inches. The telescope and laboratory is a gift from the International Educational Board to the California Institute of Technology.

Following a series of explosions in a Government supervised distillery, Francis Sears, a Prohibition official, and Hugh Duffy, .mechanic, were show--ered by flaming alcohol, and both were burned to death. The property loss is half a million sterling.
