At a meeting of, the In a ngahua Trotting Club, the. stakes were, increased from £690 to £9OO. The programme was improved and the. classes tightened up from 4 to 6 seconds. The Reef--ton Jockey Club’s action in refusing to entertain the Trotting Club’s offer, to submit their demand, to arbitration, has created a deadlock. In view ot this the Trotting Club was left no option other than to refer the .matter to the New Zealand Trotting Association and request them to jvith-hold the Reefton Jockey Club’s permit for trotting events until such time as an amicable settlement was reached. One member reported to the meeting of having discussed with prominent members of the Greymouth Trotting Club the possibility of obtaining the use of their ground should the Reefton Jockey Club persist in their present attitude and debar the Trotting Club from racing at Reefton. He was informed that the Grey Trotting Track' would be at the disposal of the Reefton Trotting Club free of charge. If an amicable agreement is not arrived at the holding of the trots at Greymouth .will prove a serious Joss to Reefton.
