MENTAL DEFECTIVES

A PROPOSED BILL.

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyngntk

LONDON, October 27

It is understood the Eugenics Society Ims drafted for presentation to Parliament a bill empowering sterilisation of mental defectives, at the instance of the local authority under .the Mental Deficiency Act, subject to approval of the Minister of Health, Board of Control of Defectives, the last-named to be distensible where the defective is legally certified.

Doctor Arbutlmot Lane declares almost the entire medical profession and a majority of thinking people support the bill. Sterilisation is the only cure for the serious evil. The continuance of families of mental defectives is utterly unjustifiable.
