The Chamber of Commerce, at a special meeting, adopted a resolution of protest against the new State Income Tax Bill of New South Wales. The Chamber are demanding the withdrawal of the measure in. order, to enable its provisions to be drastically amended. The proposals were condemned as too complicated, and as wasteful in operation.

The police ascertained that Colonel L. Gisborne formerly resided at Lingen Hall, Bucknell, Shropshire, and was aged 70. He came to Australia to see the cricket tests. He left a note indicating his intention of suicide.
