“HILLS OF KENTUCKY” -TO-NIGHT.
The latest Rin-Tin-Tin picture, “ Hills of Kentucky,” n Warner Bros.’ production for Master Pictures, whiph comes to the Princess Theatre to-night, deals with a Bins Glass legend of a dog known as the Grey Ghost. Back in days when starvation was rayaging the mountain' settlements, men yore (forced to hve like animals. They had no food for their beasts. Their dogs they cast from them, to fight or tp die. When the dog Tnown as the Grey Ghost was cast out, he left behind him a little hoy, who had been His constant Compaq on. The boy died of . grief and starvation. Bait the Grey Ghost did not die. He gathered together the other dog exiles, and they ran as a lean wolf-pack, terrorising the countryside. Some time after whep the mountaineers’ condition, was improving, a school teacher arrived in the mountain hamlet with her , little crippled brother. Down by a stream where the boy was fishing came, tjie Grey Ghost. The little boy did not know' enough o‘f the countryside legend to run at sight of the animal, who had eluded the expert hunters of the territory. To the little boy, the Grey. Ghost was just a dog, to be made friends with. The story, proper is the story of these two: the boy and the dqg. It is a story crammed with ‘ melodramatic surprises, and has generally been accepted as. the most powerful vehicle yet deyised for Rin-TinTin’s thrilling talents. With this tpl© is. interwoven the romance of the school teapher, played by Dorothy Dwan, with two brothers, played by Jason Robards .and Tom Santsclii. Mr Robards is the actor from the Broadway stage who seeped so heavily as leading man for Dolores Costello in “The Third Degree.” Additional in tprest fop dog lovers is lent to this production as Nanette, RinrTin-Tin’s mate appears for the first time in a role of powerful importance. The love story of these two dogs makes beautiful and exciting screen material. The picture was directed by. Howard Bret erton. It is an. adaptation of Dorothy Yost’s story, “The Untapied Heart, for Master Picture release.
