A FATAL FALL

ARMY OFFICER’S DEATH

(Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) (■ SYDNEY, October 25. Colonel L. Gisborne, retired English army officer and a prominent clubman, was found with his neck broken-in the early morning, on the lawn of the Union Club, Sydney., He died in the arms of a steward, who states Gisborne fell from an upper storey window. The police learned that deceased, who was a recent visitor from England, was Lieut.-Colonel Gisborne, C.M.G., late of the Royal Field Artillery Territorial Forces. He was a son off the Mon. William Gisborne, of New Zealand. Deceased served in . the South African and European wars and lied hooked his return to England by the Orvieto on Saturday next.

A steward of the Union Club states Col. Gisborne’s last words were: “ It’s all right lad. I’m gone. God out knows what was wrong with me. Shortly-afterwards he died.
