STALIN’S FROOLAAIATION

The Riga correspondent reports that Al, Stalin, before the Aloscow disciplinary tribunal, proclaimed the necessity of relentless extirpation of those whose present economic difficulties demanded modification. The Soviet Industrial programme sloganed Rydoff’s “moderates” must go. The tribunal immediately decided to purge the party of officials who have become “unsteady.” Six Aloscow party leaders have already been dismissed by the Central Communists’ ‘Committee and alto have been warned by Aloscow Communists to beware of leaders “‘whose true Leninist convictions falter.” The Stalin section is also sacrificing wavering leaders at Tiflis, Leningrad and other cities..

The Government have decided to expel all Communists employed at AVoolwicli Arsenal, and Royal Dockyards, unless they renounce allegiance to Communist doctrines. The announcement was made 'by Lord Stanhope (Civil Lord of the Admiralty) when receiving a deputation from the Amalgamated Engineering Union, regarding the dismissal of Uercy GJading from Woolwichf Glading is a member of the Amalgamated. Engineering Union, engaged in the Ordnance Department. He was given the alternative of renouncing membership of the Communist Party or dismissal and chose dismissal.
It is understood • the government’s edict is prompted/bv reports of Communist agitation at Portsmouth, Devonport, and Chatham.
NANKING LAND BOOAI.
SHANGHAI, Oct. 22
Nanking is experiencing , a land boom, coincident with the arrival, of new Government officials and thousands of office seekers. Buying continues with unabated fervour and fabulous prices are being paid. It is estimated that to the fifty thousand office seekers living in Nanking’s hotels, the landlords double and treble the rents hourly. The Nationalist capital has become a profitera paradise. A majority of the buyers are. Shanghai merchants. Corporations are being organised to build cinemas, restaurants and hotels. The minimum price asked for the smallest lot is ten thousand dollars. The same property Avals leased yearly for twenty dollars prior to the boom, which suggests that people belieA r e a stable Government has finally been established. Foreigners are sceptical.
N'.Z. HONEY. LONDON, Oct. 22. The New Zealand Office states that a recent publicity .campaign in Britain has removed doubts regarding the marketing of New Zealand honey. A heavy shipment of 12,000 tons of honey has already exceeded the packing capacity. Day and night shifts are working to meet the market roquirenients.
