“MARRIAGE” VOID AFTER 22 YEARS.
LONDON, Aug. 22. Annie Feldman, of Howland street, Tottenham, Court road, again appeared at Marlborough street yesterday in support of her application against Hyman Feldman, a tailor, for a maintenance wider for herself and her two children.
The woman alleged that 22 years ago Feldman brought a religious man into a private room in Wardour street, Soho, and she went through a form of marriage with Feldman. They had been living apart for the last four years, and lie had allowed her £2 5s a week until last Christmas. Feldman denied that he went through any marriage ceremony with the woman.
Mr Mead, the magistrate, held that there was no marriage. Cases, lie said, were known where people had been married by a man who v'ore a surplice, but who in reality was not a clergyman at all. He dismissed the maintenance summons, holding that the two children* ’were .illegitimate, and ordered Feldman to pay £1 a week for each child until they were 16.
