THE UNEMPLOYED.
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 19. Acting on the instructions of the Christchurch. City Council, the Finance Committee at its meeting yesterday considered means of laising £5,000 to. augument the Citizens’ Unemployment Fund. Drawing money from the District Funds account, and the Quarries Account, the Committee was able to find £4,000, and this, together with the Government subsidy will' give the desired sum. The City Engineer .has -been instructed to increase immediately the number of men employed on the relief works.
