A seven-storied house being constructed at Venvenues collapsed and twenty-five workmen were .buried in the ruins. Police and firemen dashed to the rescue. Nine bodies have .been recovered. It is believed sixteen are under the wreckage, whose groans are audible.
BIG BUILDING COLLAPSES. PARIS, Oct. 19. Twenty workmen were killed in the collapse of a seven storied apartment building which was being erected in the R.ue Jarry Vincennes. Eye witnesses say that the building seemed to split in two and fall as under. The builder had taken up his residence in the completed section, but he was absent at the time of the accident. On returning lie was overcome by the scene of ruin, and he attempted to blow out his brains.
