HICKMAN HANGED

NEW YORK, Oct. 19
At San Quentin prison, California, Hickman, (cabled on Dec. 26th.) was banged lor the murder of Miriam Paiker. He walked calmly to the gallows apparentv quite self possessed before over two hundred witnesses.
The young murderer prior to execution spent a' considerable part of the night talking to the guards. He related the story of his life. He said be had killed the girl for greed, because be wanted her ransom, adding: “If they should not hang me then they should never hang another. My crime was one of the most gruesome in history.”
He slept little on the final night, spending the time playing a gramophone, when not talking to the guards. Hickman embraced religion following conviction.
