FAT STOCK PRICES.
GOOD RATES AT ARRINGTON. CHRISTCHURCH, 'October 18. At the weekly stock sale at Addington yesterday fat cattle and fat sheep sold firmly at late rates, with a tendency for prices to improve in each case. There was little quotable change in values; but both classes sold at prices that should have been satisfactory from the point of view of vendors. The number of spring lambs forward was a large one for this time of the year. Nearly 250 were penned. The demand was good, but the number . forward resulted in prices declining on late rates by several shillings a head. There was an averaged sized yarding of store sheep. The recent rains have improved the feed prospects in the country, and there was a brighter tone about the market for store sheep yesterday, though for most classes there was little quotable change in values. The yarding of store cattle, was much larger than has been the case at recent sales. The demand foi\ all classes was good. Good sorts of dairy cattle sold well as also did killable sorts of vealers. Baconers were slightly easier in price, but porkers sold firmly at late rates. There was an all-round improvement in the prices for store pigs.
