SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY. BLAKETOWN WIN SARATY CUP. The attendance was small at Kumara on Saturday, at the seven-a-side tourney for junior teams, for a cup donated by Mr Theo. Saraty, of Kumara. The weather was dull and ideal for football, excepting for a fairly strong wind, but the ground was in a bad condition. Bla'ketown A team proved the victors and deserved their win, playing the best football on the day, and being too fast 'for the opposition. During the evening, at a dance in Murphy’s Hall, the cup was pre? sented by Mr Saraty to Mr F. McEnaney, captain of the Blaketown team, who suitably acknowledged receipt of the trophy.

Following were the results of the games:— FIRST ROUND. Blaketown B beat Excelsiors'by five points to nil. Ivokatahi beat Kumara B by 11 to 3. Star A beat United by six to nil. Blaketown A beat Kumara A by 6 to 5. SEMI-FINALS. Kokatahi beat Blaketown B by 8 to 6. Blaketown A beat Star A by 11 to nil. FINAL. Blaketown A beat Kokatahi by 8 to nil. Cooper scored the first try from a scramble in the corner, the kick missing. Shortly after, Guy secured' the hall at half way, beat an opponent, and then out-paced the opposition to score a fine try, which Negri converted. Time was called shortly after.

EXCELSIORS 25 V. CRONADUN 13. On the Reef ton racecourse yesterday afternoon, in excellent weather, and before a good attendance of the public, Cronadun and Excelsiors (Hokitika; met in a return friendly game, the latter winning by 25 points to 13. The ground was in good order after the recent heavy rain, and the sun shone strongly in both halves. The visitors dominated the play throughout both spells, and a fast exhibition of the code was witnessed. Cronadun forwards were superior and heavier in the loose but the visitors’ backs outclassed the opposing backs. Freitas, Mclntosh, and A. King shone out in the visitors’ pack, and J. King was the “ king-pin” of the backs. Houston, R. King, Nightingale, and Stevenson all played good games, and combined in every effort. E. Patterson, S. Smith and McCormack showed out in the Cronadun pack, while Gallagher, Kelly, ,1. Coghlan and Adams were the most noticeable in the back division. For the winners, R. King (3), Hughes, C. King, and J. King (2) scored tries, Stevenson converting two, and Gallagher, Kelly, and Coghlan were Cronadun’s try-getters. Kelly converting two. Mr E. Hughes was referee.
