ELECTIONS

SUPPLEMENTARY ROLL. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. For the approaching General Elections no departure is to he made with respect to the use of the Supplementary Roll, said the Minister in Charge of the Electoral Department (the Hon Mr McLeod) in the House of Reprepmsentatives to-day, when replying to a. question by Mr W. A. Veitch. The Minister said he Had been advised by the Electoral Department that the Supplementary Roll would close on the day on which the writ for the elections was issued and that within seven days afterwards copies would be available for the use of the various organisations interested. The experience of the Department had been that the use of one Supplementary Roll rendered the work of the officers easier, much time having been lost in finding names of electors when two rolls were employed.
