The Coogee bye-election for the New South Wales State Assembly, rendered necessary owing to the death of the Nationalist, Air Goldstein, resulted: — Air Dumiingham (Nationalist) 7,811; Air Carotin (Labour) 3,-138. THE LEGATE’S VISIT. SYDNEY, Sept. 23. His understood that Cardinal Cerretti, Papal Legate at the Eucharistic Congress, may extend his stay j„ Australia for a month. He will visit. Victoria in October in connection with the extensions to the hospital and educational activities in that State, He will also visit Canberra, the Federal capital.
