HOCKEY SQUABBLE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 13. W. I-I. Down (Secretary of the New Zealand Hoc-key Association), President o>f the Selwyn Hockey Club and a prominent referee will not referee any more hockey matches for the next three years, if the request made by tlie management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association is endorsed by tlie Referees Association. Down was reported to tlie management committee at a. meeting o n Monday for making an insulting remark to another referee at the five-a-side tournament at Hagley Park last Saturday and a motion was then carried to the above effect.
