(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) LIMERICK’S WIN. INQUIRY OVER THE RACE. SYDNEY, September 10. The Stewards have began an inquiry into a crowding incident during the Chemsfonl Stakes. Happy Warrior, which was not fancied by tho bettors, was leading along the back, half a dozen lengths ahead of Rions Cup, with Limerick well hack. At the turn into the straight tho field closed, and considerable crowding occurred. Then Limerick stretched out in earnest, to beat off Winnlot, and be won by a length, with Happy Warrior a length away third. Statesman finished well, but Raasay suffered badly opposite the stand. Tho inquiry resumes today.

LIMERICK’S RIDER SUSPENDED. SYDNEY, Sept. 10., The Jockey Club’s inquiry into Hie alleged interference in tho C’hemsford Stakes on Saturday has ooileluded. Tho Stewards found that McCarten was. to blame for interference, and susjicnded him for three months. McCarten, who told the Stewards that the interference was caused by Limerick lugging in, intends to appeal, to the Committee of the Jockey Club.

SPORTING WRITER’S VIEW. SYDNEY, Sept. 11. Groves, n prominent sporting writer, commenting on MeCarten’s disqualification, declares McOartcn’s excuse that Limerick lugged in is paltry. The general impression of those who saw Saturday’s incident in tho Chelmsford Stakes is that if Limerick lugged in the rider allowed him to do so with restraint, with the object of preventing Winnlot getting a fair run. Even without interference Limerick would, in Grove’s opinion, have won.
