FOOTBALL.

ARRIVAL OF CANTERBURY TEAM. The Canterbury B. "representative Rugby team arrived by the express from Christchurch last evening. They were welcomed by Mr 11. -M. Coulson (President of the Westland Sub-Union) at the railway station and Alien motored to Keller’s Hotel where the team is staying.

This morning the team had a practise on Cass Square and in the afternoon were taken for a motor drive.

TO-MORROW’S GAME. The match between Canterbury and , West Coast takes place on Cass Square to-morrow, play commencing at , 3 o’clock sharp. The game should attract a large attendance, and it is hoped the weather conditions will, he favourable, when < a fast open game should result. The visiting combination are reported to be a good team, revelling in fast open play. The Coast team should also be able to give « good exposition. They have had a number of games together, and should have considerable combination in the backs, while the forwards are a heavy lot good both in the serum and open. Mr K. AY. Excelsior Third-grade to play School in the final of the championship tomorrow:—Connor, Dicdricli (2), Dale, Heinz, Hughes, Thompson, Shearer. Cooper, Richards, AA’riglit, Ferguson. Swenoy, AA’ells, Schroder and Bell. All the above must lie on the Square at 1 o’clock sharp.
