FOOTBALL.

A meeting of the Appointment Committee of the Westland Sub-Union was held at 7 p.m, last evening to finalise arrangements for Saturday’s big game. The team will arrive on the overland express this evening, when a public welcome will bo extended to the visitors by the President (Mr H. M. Coulson). The tonm will then be motored to Keller’s Hotel. Later in the even-, ing the team will be the guests (if the Hospital Committee at tbe Juvenile Ball.

Friday morning the team will practice on Cass Square. At 2 p.m. they will be taken for a motor drive to Lake Kanieri and Rimu dredge. On Friday evening the local Picture Coy entertain the visitors. ON SATURDAY. The game will start at 2.55 p.m. Mr i). R. Dowell lias been appointed manager of the West Coast team. Mr A. IV.: 'Yarrall, official time-keeper; and Messrs F. McGregor and T. Stafford gate stewards. Tho team is a very strong one and critics anticipate a keen struggle with honours slightly in favour of West Coast.

New South Wales: Westfield, Smaul, Towers, Burge, Wliitej George, Malcolm, Loudon, Rosnnblum, O’Connor, Lamb, O’Dorihell, Oomrie and Thompson. The game was fast and open, tbe visitors playing attractive footbail, aiid throwing the ball about even on tli'eir own goal line.
