A WINTER, CROSSING OK GRAHAM’S SADDLE ■ By Telegraph.—Special to Guaboian) AY AI HO GORGE, Sept. 4. _ A winter crossing ,of Graham's Saddle at the head of the Franz Josel Glacier has been successfully accomplished on ski is by Frank Alack and Charles .lense.ii, two AVost Coast guides from the Franz Josef Glacier. The Dill-tv on leaving the Glacier Hotel at AVailio Gorge, traversed the Franz Josef Glacier to Defiance and Aimer lints and thence across the wonderful snow fields of the Glacier, six si|mire miles in extent, which forms one of the finest skiing grounds ill the world. Crossing Graham’s Saddle, 8759 feet, the party descended the Rlmdolf and Tasman Glaciers to The Ball hut, and 1 hence to the Hermitage. This is the first time this expedition has been aecomplislied on skiis and it is a very creditable performance. The partv intend returning to the Franz Josef on the West Coast via the Copeland Pass. The route passes through the finest mountain and glacier scenery in the Alps and now that the way has been opened no doubt many others will follow.
