KOKATAHI DAIRY STOCK SALE
Yesterday at the homestead of Air J. AV. Kelly there was a large attendance of dairy farmers and others interested in the dispersal sale of his: well known herd of cows. Buyers were present from every part of the district and there can he no doubt as tf‘ the demand for good cows as will lie gathered from the prices recorded yesterday. The herd was yarded in good order and competition was keen froir. start to finish of the sale. Third and fourth calf cows made to £l4 10s and £l4, first calf heifers ho £0 2s fid, aged cows to £ll os. AfessiM AY. ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 29. At to-day’s Aletropolitaii market prices for fat sheep showed a slight decline compared with the previous sale. Other classes remained firm. Prices for fat cattle were also slightly easier. Pigs showed an advance on last week’s rates. The range of prices was as follows: ■Fat Cattle—A fairly large yarding. Prices were slightly easier. Heavy steers realised from £IS 10s to £22 2s fid, prime £ls 15s to £l7 10s, medium £l2 5s to £l3 15s. light £lO 10s to £l2 heifers heavy £l4 to £l6 17s 6d, prime l£ll 15s to £l3 10s, medium £9 to £lO 10s. light £7 15s to £8 10s; cows, heavy £l4 to £l6 15s, prime £l2 10s to wlo
15s. medium £9 os to £lO 10s, lightci £6 5s to £8 10s. Store sheep:—A small yarding in alt departments. Halfbred ewe lambs realised 33s 3d to 36s 6d. there-qunrtev bred ewe lambs 28s lOd to 40s Id crossbred ewe lambs 24s to 3os. Competition was solid for adult sheep. Romney cross ewes in lamb made 43" 6d. few pens of aged ewes 26s to 30s, wethers 33s to 36s 9d. Eat sheep:—A heavy yarding of good quality. Values were slightly easier. Ewes were on a par with the last sale. Extra prime ewes made to 51s Id, heavy ewes 43s to 48s, prime 39s 6d to 425, lighter to 375, extra prime ewes to 44s lOd. heavy 36s to 41 S 10, prime 33s to 35s 6d, medium •28s to 32s 6d. lighter from 265. l*igs.— A large yarding of pork, and a medium entry of bacon, with an advance on late rates.
