A J'AH KWKI.'L FUNCTION. j On Tuesday evening last a very pleasant function took place in Prestons tea-rooms when the. members of the Excdsioiv Football Club met to bid larcwell to Mr E. Christiansen who has received notice of his transfer to Kurow. The President of the Club (Mr H. M. Foul son) in a very pleasing speech eulogised the good qualities and sportsmanshir. of the departing guest, not only in football matters but in all classes of s .. () rt .roncrallv. On lmlinlf of Ins club mates lie asked Mr Christiansen to accept a- small token as a mark of esteem and high respect in which he was held bv all whom he came in contact. -Mr

Christiansen on rising to reply greeted with a round of applause. Mr Coiilson in a few remarks asked Mr Freitas to accept a small presentation on behalf of his clubmates. Various other speakers voiced their congratulations. Mr Freitas on rising to reply thanked all for the very nice "things said about him, stating that in the test he would do his utmost to uphold the traditions of previous West Const All Blacks.
