FINAL DEMONSTRATION CONCERT

LARGE, ATTENDANCE.

There was a large attendance again at the Princess Theatre last night for the second demonstration concert in connection with the AVcstland Competitionsl festival. Seats upstairs were at a premium, while below the seating aeaemmodation was filled comfort-

ably. It was also an appreciative audience, the good work of the performers being applauded heartily. Owing to colds and sickness some alterations had to be made in the programme. It was disapointing that St. Andrews choir could not bo .heard in the test antliem and hymn, but sickness of the leading soloist accounted for the enforced absence of the choral party. Some of the elocutionary items had to be omitted for the same reason —indisposition of the performers. On the other hand some of the performers though suffering from colds put in an appearance, and pluckily went through their parts. This was so with some, of the visitors and two of the principals in the playctte “The Soup and the Savoury.” The playctte was enjoyed, however, ns much as over, and must he considered the star item of the evening. Notwithstanding the items omitted there was almost a full three hours of constant entertainment. Iho juveniles delighted the audience. The dancing was again a feature. The vocal items wore all very pleasing and the instrumental numbers all loudly

applauded. The elocutionary items were all well given, and evidently greatly enjoyed. Some humorous numbers delighted the audience very much. Ilio following was the programme:
