(Australian Press Association.) “BECKETT’S BUDGET” RETN- . > STATED. SYDNEY. Aug. 27. Justice James, in Chambers, made an order for restoration of “Beckett’s Budget” newspaper, which recently was removed from the Register by the Postmaster-General. Its restoration to register is the outcome of prolonged litigation as previously cabled.
JOCK GARDEN ACQUITTED. SYDNEY, Aug. 27. Tho trial lias commenced of Jock Garden. Secretary of the Trades and Labour Council, on a. charge of inciting to murder on the high seas. Garden pleaded not guilty. Tn a statement from the dock, lie said that the charge was too absurd for words. SYDNEY. Aug. 27. Jock Garden was indicted on three charges—namely, soliciting persons to commit murder on the high seas; encouraging persons to commit murder on the high seas; and emleavourng to persuade persons to commit murder on the high seas. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. The jury, after a short deliberation, returned a verdict of not guilty. Garden was accordingly acquitted.
