(British Official Wireless.) banking after hours. AUTOMATIC SAFE "rugby,; Aug. 19. An automatic receiving safe, enabling traders and managers of tlieatras, cinemas and restaurants, who conduct business after usual local banking hours to deposit money at any hour, has been installed at one suburban branch of the Midland Bank, and similar safes are being constructed at other branches. Access to the safe is gained by a small revolving door in the outside wall of the bank door and controlled by a special key provided by the bank. The customer is also furnished with a leather wallet, in which he places his cash and 'cheques. The customer places the wallet on a small platform, which rotates ns the door closes, thus permitting the wallet to travel by way of a chute, into lhe safe.

CRICKET RECORDS. VERSATILE YOUNG PLAYER. RUGBY, Aug. 19. W. R- Hammond, the young Gloucestershire cricketer, gave an illustration of his great all-round ability yesterday. Playing against Worcestershire at Cheltenham, he secured nine wickets for 23 runs and caught the tenth batsman, with the result that Worcestershire were all out for 35. which is the lowest score of the season in a county match. In the match against Surrey on tlio same ground, which ended on the previous day in an easy victory for Gloucestershire, Hammond scored two separate hundreds, made ten catches, and secured one wicket.
