CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD.

CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. IG \ Af.. 'W H.AViiisor is the new chairman of the Canterbury Education Board. He was unanimously elected to that position at a special meeting of the Board yesterday morning, in succession to Mr C. S. Thompson, who declined nomination for re-election. Mr .1. G. Clow, was also nominated, hnt he, too. declined, to contest the position. Mr Winsor will hold office for ono year, at the end of which time ho will, in conformity with an unwritten understanding, resign in favour of another member. ATr Thompson, before vacating the chair expressed his pleasure at the re-election of Mr J. G. Gow to the Board, and also complimented the Board and the staff on the work done during the past twelve months. The following committees were elcctAppointments. —-Messrs B- W‘ ld (chairman), AV. A.
