WESTLAND HOSPITAL BOARD

MONDAY, AUG. 13th. The Board met at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs J. J. Breeze (President), G. Davidson, T. W. Duff, R. Alcharry, W. Jeffries. Apologies for absence were made for Alessrs Wells, Spiers, Alory! and Keenan. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE From IT. Turley, secretary of Westlancl Timber Workers’ Union in reference to the agreement to be entered into between Union and Board for treatment of workers in hospital.—Received. It was resolved to await the agreement being drafted hy Air Turley, the Board emphasising that the payments by the Union should be made direct to the Board. From National Provident Fund in reference to superannuation fund.—Received.

Wylie, applying for annual leave.—Received and granted. From E'. Freitas, applying for annual leave.—Received and granted. From Druids Lodge supplying list of momlcers at Hokitika and Kumara. —Received. From Oddfellows Lodge, Kumara, supplying list of members.—Received. From Surgeon Superintendent, reporting patients in hospital oil July Ist. was 41. Admitted during July, 21 males, 12 females—33. Total treated. 44 males 30 females—74. Discharged cured, 25 males, 12 females. Died, 1 male, 2 females. Total discharged, 2G males, If females-—lO. In hospital 31st. ‘July, 18 males, 10 females—3-1. In hospital for three months, 8 males, G females— 14.—Received. The House Committee recommended the provision of four tons of fertiliser and to apply to Alessrs Butler Bros. Ltd. for a. couple of trucks of wood ash: reporting alterations to the house staff.—Received.

Accounts amounting to £513 10s 2d were passed lor payment. The Treasurer reported receipts £723 13s Oil, payments £SIG Os 3d. debit balance £ll3 8s Id.—Received. The next meeting was fixed for Sept. 10th. The Board rose at 9 p.m.
