Australian Press Assn. —United Service N.S.W. FINANCE. SYDNEY, Aug. 11. The New South Wales Government lias decided to amend advances for the Homes Act, whereby the Government Savings Bank will help people to bui'd their own homes, provisions whereof have been liberalised. Borrowers will now be able to obtain loans up to £IOOO instead of £750, in addition to securing up to 90 per cent. The value of security loans will be restricted to applicants with incomes up to £SOO. CANE GROWER MURDERED. BRISBANE, Aug. 13. An Italian cane grower named Patta.n io, has been shot dead .by an unknown. assailant near Innmfail. The motive is unknown and the murderer lias decamped.
