(By Telegraph -Per Press Association.) INQUEST. HAMILTON, Aug. 2. An inquest was held this afternoon as to tiie death of Samuel Ernest Kemp, aged 50, a farmer, at his home at Claudeiands. The evidence showed that a bottle of poison was found in deceased’s pocket. The inquest was adjourned. TWO MEN BHOT. AND CHARGER WITH (HIMINAL TRESPASS. TIM ARP, Aug. 2. The Court has been occupied for three days in hearing a charge against Bernard L. Blackwell and Ernest G. G. McClunn of breaking and entering two farm houses with intent to commit a crime, and also with being found by night on premises unlawfully. The evidence showed that the men had been drinking, and on refusing to leave tho houses they had been fired at with a shot gun by. an 18 year old boy. as the result of which both were sent to the hospital. MeCunn was found not guilty. Blackwell was found guilty of being unlawfully on the premises. Sentence was deferred. •FALSE PRETENCES. AUCKLAND, Aug. 2. Leonard James Moult, a young man, was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment for false pretences. Magistrate McKean asked: “Where did lie get tho cheques.” Accused: “From tho lawyers.” The Chief Detective said. “Here they are. All colours. lie must have a lot of lawyers.” Counsel said that Moult was abnormal and wrote long letters to him daily about nothing in particular.
