\By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) BARBER BEATS GRIFFITHS. DUNEDIN, July 29. At the Drill Hall last night, before an attendance of about 1800 people. Tommy Barber (Bst 13)lb) was given the decision on points in a 10-round bout with Tommy Griffiths (Bst lljlb). Barber finished very strongly, and in the final round he put Griffiths down twice—on the first occasion for nine, while on the second occasion ho was under the count when the bell went. The decision was given a very mixed reception. TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIPS. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 29. The Taranaki boxing championships were decided at Stratford on Saturday night. The champion are:— Fly-weight: V. Spavin (Hawera). Bantam: N. Roebuck (New Plymouth). Feather: T. Donovan (Waitara). Light: T. Donovan. Middle: L. Dombroski (Waitara). Light-heavy: A. Goodwin (Okato). Heavy: L. O’Keefe (Midhirst). The team to represent Taranaki at the New Zealand championships at Auckland are: Donovan, Roebuck, Dombroski and Goodwin.
